British Royals head for Kilkenny

Britain’s Prince Charles and his wife Camilla are in Kilkenny and Kildare today as part of a three day visit to the Republic.

Their trip today includes meetings with a number of government ministers.

After visiting Aras an Uachtaráin yesterday the royal couple will start their day in the equally plush confines of Kilkenny Castle this morning.

They’ll be treated to a number of sporting, music and food stands in the Marble City before a civic reception in the Castle.

They’ll also visit Cartoon Saloon animation studios and the Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown.

In the afternoon Charles and Camilla will visit the Curragh camp with the Prince viewing the UN training school and the Duchess making a trip to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens.

Significant road closures will be in place around Kilkenny and Thomastown for the day and it’s been designated a no fly zone, including for drones, for security reasons.

A full list of road closures and diversions is available on the Garda website.
