Brave motorist rescues mother and child from burning car in North Tipperary.

A mother and child were rescued from a burning car in North Tipperary yesterday afternoon thanks to a brave motorist.

The drama followed a two car crash on the old N7 between Birdhill and Nenagh at Bushfield at around 10 to 3 yesterday.

One of the cars caught fire following the collision – a passing van driver helped those trapped in the car while two off duty Gardai also arrived on the scene.

Fire crews from Counties Tipperary, Clare and Limerick were called to the incident.

A mother and her 18 month old son were hospitalised as was the female driver of the second car.

Meanwhile fire crews were called to deal with a car on fire on the N24 Cahir – Clonmel road yesterday afternoon. Diversions were put in place for a time.
