The local authority had refused permission for the use of a field as a private runway and an existing shed as an aircraft hangar.
The plans for a 670 metre long runway and hangar at Erinagh, Capparoe were refused by Tipperary County Council in September of 2015.
The application from Tim and Padraig Hanly had drawn a large number of submissions from the local community during the initial planning process.
The field was also to be used for agricultural purposes.
The council refused permission for two reasons relating to noise and amenity and on safety issues.
An appeal was subsequently lodged with An Bord Pleanala by those behind the project.
Despite a recommendation from the state planning appeals board inspector to refuse permission An Bord Pleanala has given the green light for the airfield and hangar.
