Unions at Bord na Mona are seeking a mandate from workers to fight the planned closure of the Littleton briquette factory.

They’ll be meeting staff from the Tipperary site first – next Tuesday – before they consult workers at the Derrinlough plant in Offaly and other sites.

The Bord na Mona Group of Unions met the Energy Minister Denis Naughten yesterday after warning management on Monday that industrial action was on the cards unless the April 2018 closure date was lifted.

Siptu Organiser John Regan has been telling TippFM’s Domhnall Doyle how the meeting went.
