Boil notice lifted after seven years

A South Tipp community can finally use their tap-water for the first time in seven years.

The boil water notice has been lifted by the HSE and Irish Water from the Skeheenarinky area between Cahir and Mitchelstown

It follows the completion of the Burncourt water scheme which includes a new treatment plant and reservoir.

Tipperary County Council put the boil notice in place in 2009 affecting the local national school and 53 households.

Fine Gael County Councillor Marie Murphy has welcomed the development.
