Gardaí have confirmed that the bodies of a man and a woman have been taken from the River Lee near the Cork city centre.
They were recovered by Naval divers late last night, following the search for a 27-year-old homeless woman who went missing.
Divers recovered the bodies at around 8 o'clock last night near the Port of Cork sign at Customs House Quay where the North and South Channels of the River Lee meet.
The discovery was made after Gardaí studied CCTV footage in their bid to locate the missing 27-year-old woman who was last seen on December 4th in the Andersons Quay area of the city centre.
Gardaí are not treating the deaths as suspicious but believe both were tragic incidents and the bodies were transferred to Cork University Hospital for post-mortem examinations today.
The young man has yet to be formally identified by Gardaí but it's believed that he's originally from the Skibbereen area.
