Big turnouts at Tipperary water charges protests

The last of five such protests to take place in the county today has been well supported.

The crowds began assembling at the bandstand on the Limerick Road from before 4 o'clock to express their opposition to the imposition of water charges.

An estimated 1,200 people marched to the Market Yard in the town.

Similar protests have been taking place in Cashel, Roscrea, Carrick on Suir and Nenagh this afternoon.
