With children heading out “Trick or Treating” across Tipperary this evening parents are being reminded to make sure they can be seen.

Three pedestrians were killed on Ireland's roads over Halloween last year with one in five fatalities this year have been pedestrians.

With the clocks having gone back last weekend most children heading out this evening will be doing so in darkness.

Cahir based Garda Statia Murphy says giving children torches or glowsticks can add to the fun element but also make them more visible.

She is also asking that children are supervised by adults at all times when they're out tonight pointing out that kids will be more focused on getting treats that thinking of road safety.
