Anyone thinking of taking to the water this bank holiday weekend is being urged to wear a life jacket.

The warning comes from the Irish Water Safety Group – after the body of a man was recovered from Lough Derg in Co. Tipperary last night.

It's understood the man had been on a speed boat – when he got into difficulty.

The Irish Water Safety group says wearing a life jacket should allow enough time for rescuers to get to anyone who gets into trouble while in the water.
