Average consumer in Tipperary owes about €10,000

The average consumer in Tipperary now has five times more debt than they did in 2008.

The figures, compiled by Stubbs Gazette, shows that the average person in Tipperary now owes about €10,000 compared to €2,000 in 2008.

People in Sligo fare the worst, with 15 times more debt than 4 years ago.

The study says that people are now buried in credit union debt, unpaid telephone, fuel and tax bills which are adding to the growing level of personal debt.
