Tipp author wins Orwell Prize

Tipperary author Donal Ryan has won the prestigious Orwell Prize for his novel ‘Heart, Be At Peace’.

The Nenagh man’s book features stories from a small town, told through 21 different characters.

The judging panel for the fiction prize awarded the top gong for the book’s “clarity” and “perfectly pitched” voices.

Other Irish writers to pick up the award in years gone by include Anna Burns and Claire Keegan.
