A number of events are taking place in the Premier County later to mark Poetry Day Ireland.
The date was chosen as it coincides with May Day, and the beginning of the ancient Gaelic festival Bealtaine.

Today’s events include readings, writing workshops, and evening open mic and spoken word events.
Locally there’s a free May Day poetry session at Fethard Horse Country Experience, Main Street, Fethard from 4pm.
Meanwhile there’s a poetry night at Nenagh Arts Centre from 8pm to 10pm
