Funding for works on Ardfinnan Bridge are included in Tipperary County Council’s allocation for regional and local roads for 2018.
From a total of 23 million Euro the centuries old crossing of the River Suir has been earmarked for 650 thousand.
This is to carry out vital repair works to the bridge.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Micheál Anglim is hopeful An Bord Pleanala will clear the way for the works to begin this year.
