Cllr Séamus Hanafin welcomes confirmation that the long awaited CCTV for Thurles has cleared the all the hurdles and will finally go ahead.
It is more than 4 years since the Thurles Chamber of Commerce application for a CCTV system for Thurles received initial approval, and great credit is due to Thurles Chamber for their tireless efforts to bring this to fruition.
The state of the art CCTV system will be the most technologically advanced CCTV system anywhere in the country with motorised cameras in 10 key locations around the town.  It will have full recording systems and will also allow live monitoring by Thurles Gardai.
There will also be an economic benefit to the county as a group of Tipperary businesses have won the contract to supply and install the system, and is expected to be fully operational within 3 to 4 months.
