Appeal Over Sale Of Religious Books In Nenagh

The house on O'Rahilly Street is currently unoccupied.

Those behind plans to turn a vacant house in Nenagh into a retail unit to sell religious publications have taken their case to the state planing appeals board.

The house at 1, O'Rahilly Street adjoins the grounds of St Mary's Church and is opposite the entrance to Nenagh Jail House.

EEC Direct Ltd had sought permisson to sell religious publications and associated items in conjunction with Veritas Ireland.

The plans from the Toomevara based company would entail the conversion of the existing dwelling house and garage into the retail unit on the ground floor with an office on the first floor.

Permission was also sought for a new shop-front and signage.

Nenagh Town Council refused permission for the development with the EEC Direct lodging an appeal with An Bord Pleanala who due to rule on the case towards the end of May.
