The two car collision happened on the M8 Cork Dublin motorway northbound – between Mitchelstown and Fermoy – just after 2.30pm.
A 28 year old man was fatally injured, while a female passenger was taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the second car, a 71 year old woman, was airlifted to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.
