Gardaí have come under attack for a second time this Easter Bank Holiday.
A male Garda Sergeant and a female Garda were hospitalised after being assaulted in Dublin early this morning.
An investigation is also continuing into what’s being described as a ‘savage’ attack on a male and a female member of the force in County Mayo.
In Dublin two Gardai came under attack when they approached a number of men on Aylward Green in Finglas at 1.50am this morning.
The male Garda Sergeant received facial injuries and the female Garda suffered a broken wrist – both were taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown for treatment.
Two men in their 20s were later arrested and are due in court later.
Two Gardai, a male and a female, were also injured in an altercation with a group of youths in Claremorris in County Mayo early on Sunday morning.
The male officer received hospital treatment before being discharged.
Three young men were later arrested in connection with the incident and are due before a special sitting of Castlebar District Court this afternoon.
Investigations in both cases are continuing.
