Greyhound Action Ireland continue to call for sport to be banned

Anti greyhound racing advocates here say we should follow Wales’ example and ban the sport.

The Welsh government says it is looking to get rid of dog racing “as soon as practically possible” in an effort to protect the welfare of the animals.

There are two tracks in the Premier County with Thurles and Clonmel hosting regular meetings.

Only the US, Australia and Ireland still allow commercial dog racing.

Nuala Donlon from Greyhound Action Ireland says momentum is building against the sport.
