An Bord Pleanala's gone against the advice of its own inspector and granted approval for a South Tipperary wind turbine.
It cleared the way for the project near Killenaule to proceed after it was initially refused permission by the county council.
In rejecting the proposed development by Biogas Environmental Tipperary East Ltd last April- South Tipperary County Council felt the 126 metre high turbine would impact negatively on the surrounding landscape.
The company appealed the decision, arguing the proposed location was 500 metres from the nearest residence and that the turbine would be only partially visible from nearby villages.
However An Bord Pleanala's inspector recommended upholding the local authority's decision to refuse permission but then this was overruled by the planning appeals body itself.
In reaching its decision the Board said the limited scale of the proposed project along with the distance between the site and the R691 regional road would not harm local visual amenities.
