The Boeing 777 flight was enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
The interfax news agency claims the plane was shot down by a ground to air missile in the Donetsk region, at an altitude of 10 kilometres.

They're also reporting there are no survivors.
Video has emerged said to be from the scene – showing a thick plume of smoke.
