Arrabawn – Tipperary co-op merger given the green light

The merger of Arrabawn Co-op and Tipperary Co-op has been approved by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

The amalgamation of the two local dairy co-ops was approved by over 94% of the members of both in votes held last November.

The new entity will have a projected annual turnover exceeding €700 million and be owned and controlled by over 4,800 members.

More than 1,400 farmers will be supplying 750 million litres of milk a year.

The new co-operative society will be called Arrabawn Tipperary Co-Operative Society Limited (Arrabawn Tipperary) and the merger is due to be complete by February 28 this year.
