Around €320,000 in funding has been announced for major festivals and events this year.

The allocation – which is the second phase of funding – has been approved by Fáilte Ireland under its National Festivals and Events Programme.

11 national festivals and events – including the Spraoi Festival in Waterford, the Yeats International Festival, Dublin Theatre Festival and Earagail Arts Festival – are set to benefit.

It follows an announcement of almost €2 million last November for larger events.

The Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, Paschal Donohoe, says festivals and events encourage greater visitor traffic to Ireland.
