The HSE has a target of 3.5 percent for absenteeism…however the overall rate for 2013 was 4.73….nearly twice that of private companies.

According to a report in today's Irish Independent, every day since the HSE committed to generating 290 million euro worth of payroll savings last July, around 5 thousand of its employees have missed work.
