The HSE in South Tipperary have an absenteeism rate of over double the national target for the health service.
New figures show that for 2013, staff in the local health office in South Tipp were absent 7.61 percent while workers in South Tipp General Hospital had a rate of 7.54 percent.

The HSE has a target of 3.5 percent for absenteeism…however the overall rate for 2013 was 4.73….nearly twice that of private companies.
According to a report in today's Irish Independent, every day since the HSE committed to generating 290 million euro worth of payroll savings last July, around 5 thousand of its employees have missed work.
