A passer-by discovered the infant on the Steelstown Road in Rathcoole at around 3:30pm and the baby was then taken to Tallaght Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
Gardai have confirmed that the baby had been fed and was born at least 24 to 36 hours prior to her discovery.

Officers at Clondalkin Garda Station are now appealing for the mother of the newborn baby to come forward as they are anxious to reunite the woman with her child.
