808 Tipperary private rental properties didn’t meet regulations after 1,079 inspections

Over a thousand inspections were carried out in private rental accommodation in Co Tipperary last year.

Tipperary County Council inspected 1,079 properties in 2024 which is down from the 1,312 in 2023.

There was one Prohibition Notice served on a Tipperary landlord but no legal action was taken.

1,079 were inspected in the Premier County in 2024 with 808 not meeting regulatory requirements on that first visit.

961 letters were issued to landlords in the county for improvement work with be carried out with 64 getting the more serious notices served on them.

The Housing Minister James Browne says there were more that 80-thousand inspections carried out by local authorities across the country during 2024.

That is a 26% increase on 2023 after the total quadrupled in recent years.

Increased funding of €10.5 million made available to local authority inspection teams for 2025.
