2 thousand more people working in Tipperary

There are almost 2 thousand more people employed in the county than there were 12 months ago.

However, there are just over 9,000 people signing on in Tipperary.

Latest Live Register figures show that there are 9,231 people in receipt of social welfare in the premier County.

This is down almost 2 thousand on the figure of 11,165 in November 2016 last year.

Of the 8 social welfare offices across the county – the only increase in the number of those signing on in November in comparison to October was in Cashel – where there are just 4 more people on the live register.

In the North of the county – which incorporates Thurles, Nenagh and Roscrea – there are more than 800 more people employed this year than last.

Meanwhile, in the south of the county – which includes Cahir, Carrick on Suir, Cashel, Clonmel and Tipp town – there are 1,050 more employed than in November 2016.

Nationally, the new figures from the Central Statistics Office show the number of people signing on the Live Register in November is the lowest since August 2008, when the figures first started to be compiled.
