€2.75 million settlement for rugby student

Lucas Neville was called on as a substitute for the second team at St Michael's College on Ailesbury Road at the time he suffered the injuries in November 2009.

He had been hurt by a knee to the head in rugby training 18 days earlier.

The 22 year old of Pembroke Lawn, Ballsbridge, sued the school and St Vincent's Healthcare Group for alleged negligence.

Liability was admitted but there was a hearing over damages. 

His mother told the court today that 'nobody has ever apologised' to the family for what happened.
