19,000 more people got jobs in 2017

More than 19,000 people took up employment in the first three months of the year according to the Central Statistics Office.

In total, employment grew by 68,000 in the year to the end of March, while unemployment fell in the same 12 months by over 33,000.

While 2,045,000 people are now in employment, Brian Ring from the CSO says that’s still below the record set before the crash.
