Recently the hospital has had to deal with the closure of 31 beds. 30 medical and surgical beds and one intensive care unit bed were closed.
South Tipperary TD, Seamus Healy says “The fact that there are 17 patients waiting on beds in South Tipperary General Hospital today is unfortunately not surprising.”

“There are 31 beds closed within the hospital, these beds must be opened immediately and I am calling on the Minister for Health and the Government to ensure that those beds are opened.”
