Tipp Today Pays Tribute To The Late Micheál Ó Suilleabháin

On Thursday’s Tipp Today we heard many tributes to the late Micheál Ó Suilleabháin who died on Wednesday evening.

The Clonmel native was 67.

The first tributes came from RTE Lyric broadcaster and Tipp native, Niall Carroll:

Pat Mernane was a student of Micheál’s and spoke to Fran about the legendary composer:

Tipperary TD Seamus Healy was a classmate and childhood friend of Micheál’s and recalled their time together:

Musician Jack Talty spent a lot of time with Micheál as part of his PhD studies at the World Academy of Music & Dance which he founded, and told Fran about his respect for Micheál.

Regular contributor to the show Mick O’Brien was a friend of Micheál’s when he was a child and had some great memories to share with Fran.

Micheál was made a freeman of Clonmel in 2015 and Mayor of the town, Cllr Richie Molloy was the last person to pay tribute to him on Thursday’s show.
