Who is the most famous person in your phone book?

I actually have Marcus Mumford – no not Marcus… the other guy ( laughs!)! The fella that plays the banjo.. from Mumford and sons! I met him when we did Punchestown Festival 9 or 10 years ago. They were playing and we were playing just before them – it was just before they exploded internationally. I asked the banjo player ‘what kind of music are you in to?’, and he said –’ I really like the Clancy Brothers!’ – my Dad (the late Bobby Clancy) and my uncles! So we had a conversation and I told him about our group, The High Kings, and that we play Irish music and ballads. He asked, ‘ Are you playing in Kerry any time soon?’ I said ‘Yes, we are playing at the INEC in the next few months.’ He told me that he was going out with a Kerry girl and he would love to come and see the show! He gave me his phone number, and, would you believe it, I never called him! (raucious laughter!) I completely forgot to call him! I did ring him later .. to apologise.. maybe he would have come to the show!

What was the last meal that you had?

Spaghetti Bolognese last night. This morning? I dont know if you call that a meal – Breakfast…. I had porridge!

Who did you last compliment and why?

The last person I probably complimented was my bandmate, Brian Dunphy’s son Sam, who sang with his dad a song that his grandfather (Sean Dunphy) sang for the Eurovision song contest. They sang ‘If I could choose’ together, and it was a very special moment.

Finish this sentence.. All I want is….?

To build our house! We are really close to building our house and I just want to get it started now – Its really on my mind!
