Tipp FM is on the hunt is on for Ireland’s ‘New Local Hero’ as part of Irish Music Month which takes place on Independent Radio across Ireland this September
Celebrating and supporting the amazing bands singers & music makers of all shapes & sizes that make Ireland a hot-bed of incredibly diverse music, Irish Music Month – in association with our friends in Hot Press and the IBI – returns on 21 independent radio stations across the length & breadth of the country in September.
What Irish Music Month means is:
– More Irish music song plays
– More Irish music artist mentions
– More Irish music features
– More Irish artist gig pushes
– More Irish artist interviews
And – what’s more – we’ll be putting over €100,000 into the hands of music makers and their crews across the country too.
It’s all part of the hunt for this year’s ‘A New Local Hero’…
Tipp FM is looking for four acts to represent us in the national competition
Send an MP3 recording of your work to [email protected]
So if you, or someone you know, is making original music here in Ireland & more people need to hear it then don’t miss the chance to stake your claim to the 100 thousand euro we’re putting in musicians hands in collaboration with 20 other independent Irish radio stations across the country
Each of the 21 participating independent radio stations will select four acts who will battle it out to be selected as their representative in a national competition that will ultimately see 6 acts perform live at Dublin’s Academy on Tuesday 15th of October – at the end of which one act will emerge as A New Local Hero for Ireland to celebrate – and listen to!
If that act is you:
– You’ll play live on air on your local radio station
– You’ll get expert advice from Industry mentors
– You’ll win 10K prize money & recording time in the world class Camden Recording Studios
And you’ll have your song released by the Rubyworks Record Label and see that song enjoy airplay across all participating 21 radio stations

Amhrán an Laoch
There’s a new element to Irish Music Month this year…
As well as a search for A New Local Hero, Irish Music Month will also look to unearth a cracking, originally composed song as Gaeilge.
Amhrán an Laoch is the song of the hero (or the hero’s song) – so if you or someone you know is writing songs through Irish – or using Irish extensively – get them to upload that song or track at www.irishmusicmonth.ie
If it’s your song that gets selected as Amhrán an Laoch, you win:
• Airplay support across 21 independent Irish radio stations
• Guaranteed coverage in and support from Hot Press
• €2,000 euro prize money
• Music industry mentoring & support
• An opportunity to perform live at the A New Local Hero National Finale @ The Academy, Dublin in October
• A record label release of your song with further on air support & promotion
