Tipperary has a new county councillor.
Amy Goldsboro will be co-opted onto the local authority to fill the seat vacated after her mother Imelda’s nomination to the Seanad.
Tipperary’s newest Councillor will be the youngest in the Premier county and one of the youngest in the country.
21-year-old Amy Goldsboro has won the Fianna Fail selection convention and will be co-opted to the empty seat in the Carrick-on-Suir district.
The vacancy has arisen after her mother Imelda was nominated by the Taoiseach to Seanad Eireann after narrowly losing out on the last seat in the Tipperary South constituency in the general election last December.
Over 70 Fianna Fáil members from across the district voted in the convention which was contested by Miss Goldsboro and Sylvia Cooney-Sheehan.
After being declared the winner, Amy Goldsboro said;
“I would like to thank all the Fianna Fáil members from across the area for their overwhelming support, and I look forward to working very closely with you all very soon”.
