Westgate in Carrick on Suir reopens to traffic

The building at Westgate, Carrick-on-Suir that was giving concern this morning has been made safe by its owner.

An incident occurred this morning at around 7am, which saw part of a building collapse

A structural Engineer, as well as council officials and Gardaí attended and the road was closed to traffic for a time

However, the area is now safe and Westgate has re-opened to traffic.

 

There were no injuries in the incident.

Speaking to Tipp FM News as the road was still closed, Willie Corby, District Engineer in Carrick on Suir, said steps are being taken to make the area safe.
