A status yellow rain warning has been issued for today with as much as 50 millimetres expected in the south and east.

70,000 people remain without power after storm Ophelia with thousands of these in the Premier County.

Nenagh based ESB spokesman Michael Fox says progress is being made in restoring power to those hit in Tipperary.
