Waiting game over Bonner fitness

The Tipperary Senior Hurling management team are sweating on the fitness of Patrick “Bonner” Maher as the countdown to the start of the Championship is well underway.

Michael Ryan said the Lorrha- Dorrha club man’s hamstring injury was assessed by the team’s physio yesterday but added it takes 24 to 48 hours to assess properly.

He was speaking to reporters at the launch of the Munster GAA championships in Killarney last night. Niall O’Meara is also a doubt with back strain while Donagh Maher and John Meagher have been ruled out- but it’s hopeful that Seamie Callanan will return to training this week.

Bonner Maher picked up his injury during club action at the weekend but speaking to Tipp FM’s Sarah O Dwyer -Tipperary Hurling captain Padraic Maher is hopeful of his inclusion for the start of the championship in a fortnight’s time
