Two fatalities on Tipp roads in 24 hours

Gardaí in Tipperary are urging all road users to be aware of the dangers.

2 people died on the roads of the Premier County over the weekend while 7 have been killed across the country since Thursday evening.

These latest deaths increase the number to ten people killed on Tipperary’s roads so far this year – the latest fatalities happened within 24 hours of each other over the weekend.

A motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car on Saturday evening near Carrick while yesterday evening a pedestrian was struck by a truck on the M8 near Cahir.

Inspector James White of Clonmel Garda station is appealing for information on both tragedies.

First in relation to the incident near Carrick on Suir on Saturday.

Yesterday evening a pedestrian was struck by an articulated lorry on the motorway near Cahir.

Again Inspector White is hoping anyone who was in the vicinity of Exit 11 near Cahir may have some vital information.

The number for Cahir Garda station is 052 7445630.

The number of people killed on the roads of Tipperary this year has now reached 10 – the total for all of 2017 was 8.

These latest fatalities in Tipperary come on what has been a horrific few days on the nations roads with seven people killed since Thursday.
