The cancellation of elective and scheduled care seems to be having an effect on the overcrowding crisis at UHL.
The INMO says there were 48 patients admitted to the hospital in Limerick, which serves north Tipperary, without beds today.
Last week the number on trolleys was averaging over a hundred and was up to 127 on Wednesday.
Management at the UL hospital Group – which includes Nenagh General – decided to put in place a de-escalation plan to suspend all non-urgent services and outpatient appointments in an effort to tackle the issue.
The plan drew criticism from consultants but it appears to be having an effect as the numbers are often higher on a Monday after the weekends.
There are 12 patients admitted to TUH in Clonmel without beds today according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation today (Monday).
