Tipp’s O’Connor named Higher Education Hurler of the Year

A Tipperary player has been named the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Hurler of the Year.

University of Limerick forward Gearóid O’Connor won the award for his performances on route to winning his third Fitzgibbon Cup title.

The Moyne/Templetuohy club man scored 0-37 in UL’s victorious campaign, including 0-10 in the final against DCU.

Meath and DCU player Ciarán Caulfield was named the footballer of the year at last night’s event.
