Tipperary EV sales surge

New car sales in Tipperary are up 8% so far this year.

1,897 vehicles have been assigned a T-reg in the first four months of 2025 compared with 1,756 over the same period last year.

According to figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry the biggest increase was in March when sales were up nearly 18% on the same month in 2024.

Petrol Hybrids are the best-selling engine type accounting for almost quarter of new registrations.

The sale of both petrol and diesel cars have fallen by 9% and 24% respectively.

EV sales have rocketed by 113% in the first four months with 241 sold to leave it the 4th most popular power choice.
