Tipperary could be set to host the World Ploughing Championships in 2021.

Two locations in the Premier County are being considered for the event which would bring a huge financial boost to the region.

A confident Deputy Michael Lowry there on Tipperary chances of securing the World Ploughing Championships in three years time.

The World Ploughing Championships have the potential to generate millions of Euro for the economy in Tipperary.

Two locations in the Premier County are in the running to play host to the event in 2021.

A decision is likely to be made before the end of the year.

Michael Lowry says in the region of 1,000 acres are needed to host the event.

Access is a huge factor in selecting a site for the World Ploughing Championships given the sheer size of the event.

Tipperary is well serviced by both the M8 and M7.

One of the sites being considered is understood to be the Two Mile Borris casino site while Deputy Lowry says the other is the south of the county.
