Tipp man sentenced for assault on Garda

A Tipperary man has been handed a prison sentence for assaulting a Garda.

Ross Outram with an address at Ferryland, Waterford Road, Clonmel appeared before Clonmel Circuit Court yesterday.

He was charged with assault causing harm contrary to Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

The incident happened on December 29th last year when the accused was stopped by Gardai on the Davis Road in Clonmel

The 26 year old pleaded guilty to assaulting a member of An Garda Siochana.

Judge Thomas Teehan sentenced Outram to 2 and a half years in prison.
