Tipp heritage sites get major cash injection

Over 2 million euro is being earmarked for separate OPW projects in Tipperary as part of the development of Ireland’s Ancient East.

Its all part of €11.5m Failte Ireland funding announced by  Minister Patrick O’ Donovan and Minister Séan Canney today.

The lion’s share of the funding 1.78 million is going to the refurbishment and enhancement of the Rock of Cashel as works are ongoing there with the recent removal of the scaffolding.

Ormond Castle in Carrick on Suir -is also getting almost 600 thousand euro from Failte Ireland for repair work and restoration.

The two sites are among 10 key OPW projects to receive monies from Failte Ireland’s Capital Grants budget.
