A senior Garda in the Tipperary Division says the force will have to work to regain public confidence in the force.
It comes in the wake of the recent breath-test scandal with a Garda report showing that 184,000 fake breath tests were recorded in Tipperary – 385% more than were actually carried out.
Nationally 1.5 million falsified tests were recorded by Gardaí.
Speaking on Tipp Today Inspector Eddie Golden admitted the revelation would impact on how the public view An Garda Siochana.
Some Tipp FM listeners say they have noticed a marked increase in the number of Garda checkpoints across the county in recent days.
However Inspector Eddie Golden says this isn’t related to the breath test controversy pointing out that day-to-day policing has to continue.
