Tipperary councillors are calling on Regina Doherty to examine the issue with state pension contributions.
The local authority has agreed to write to the Department of Social Protection on the matter, after the issue was highlighted by Independent councillor Seamus Morris at the monthly meeting.

A minimum of 520 contributions or ‘stamps’ are needed to be able to claim the state pension – falling short of this results in loss of any entitlements.
Cllr Morris proposed that a letter be sent to every person aged 60 to inform them about how many contributions they have accumulated.
