Threat to Mid Tipp bus service

There is a threat to school buses serving Scoil Ruain in Killenaule.

It attracts students from a large catchment area including Killenaule, Moyglass, Mullinahone, Drangan, Cloneen and Gortnahoe – Glengoole

At present there are 404 students in the Killenaule School with 37 teachers and 8 support staff.

However changes in recent years to the school bus transport system means that they could lose some of the 7 buses currently serving the school.

142 students use the service – however many of them are outside the catchment area.

Deputy Michael Lowry says this could impact on both student and teacher numbers.
