Sticking plaster approach used for Tipp roads

Tipperary County Council is being forced to use a sticking plaster approach to road maintenance even though major surgery is what’s needed.

A shortfall in funding over the last decade has left a repair bill of €196 million to bring the county’s regional and local roads back up to an acceptable standard.

Council CEO Joe MacGrath admitted at this weeks meeting of the local authority that they are trying to patch up roads that need full reconstruction.
