Major funding for sports clubs and facilities across Tipperary is being described as an investment in the health and wellbeing of people in the county.
The Premier County has been allocated over €9.6 million for a broad range of sports such as rowing, yachting, hockey, GAA, soccer and rugby.
Mayor of Clonmel Michael Murphy is among the many welcoming todays announcement under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme and Community Sport Facilities Fund.
“I think it’s fantastic to see a huge variety of clubs in Tipperary receiving funding. This will come as a major boost to members. Our local clubs are at the heart of our communities and any help they receive is a great source of support to local teams and sports people and a boost for participation in sport.”
“This funding will benefit nearly 80 clubs in Tipperary. Active engagement in sport not only helps keep people healthy but also builds confidence and independence and promotes team building. It’s crucial that we invest in sport for the overall health and wellbeing for our population and that’s why this Sports Capital Programme is so important.”
