Opposition leaders and the Taoiseach have clashed again in a row over Michael Lowry’s Dáil speaking time.
The opposition is resolutely against the idea of The Tipperary TD’s regional independents being awarded speaking time outside the government ranks while promising to support the coalition in ‘good days and bad’.
But Micheál Martin says it’s shocking they would try to deprive any democratically elected TD of the right to speak.
Labour leader Ivana Bacik drew the anger of the Government benches when she addressed the Dáil earlier:
”Those who are clearly in government, who have supported the government…. to designate them as other members – It’s ridiculous to see the tortuous attempts that government is making now, to facilitate the Lowry Lackeys…”
Deputy Bacik subsequently withdrew the comment.
