Sulky Racing leads to delay in road gritting near Cahir

Snow and ice has affected parts of the country overnight, with roads in some parts of Tipperary described as treacherous

A status yellow warning from Met Eireann is in place until midday.

Accumulations of up to 3 centimetres are expected in some parts.

In Tipperary there’s reports of hard frost on roads around Thurles, while there is slush in some parts of the Nenagh to Thurles route.
While secondary roads in Burgess and Ballywilliam are also very icy.

In the south of the County roads around Kilcoran near Cahir are icy this morning, but Council crews have told Tipp FM that that paticular stretch is being gritted at present.
Earlier attempts to grit the road were thrawted by an illegal sulky race taking place on the roads before 7.
